CMF Ministry in Kenya
CMF
missionaries have been working in Kenya since 1977, primarily among the
pastoral Maasai and the nomadic Turkana. CMF's goal is to
plant
reproducing churches among these unreached people. Our
missionaries have lived among the people they serve, speak the language
of
the people, and are considered active in the communities in which they
live. Our CMF teams are involved in leadership training,
literacy, public schooling, development projects, and medical work to
minister to the whole person. A new team began ministry among
the
urban poor of Nairobi late in 2003 to transform lives and
communities. Through a vehicle known as Community Health
Evangelism (CHE) entire slums are being changed through community
development and home grown self help programs. This program
is beginning to take hold in rural areas as well with the help of
Community Christian Church.

Since
1998, the Browns had served in their home congregation
in various areas including discipleship, outreach, and as members of
the finance and missions teams. They were also instrumental
in
organizing and mobilizing community activities within their
neighborhood.
Jeff and Tammi's desire is to use their skills to
assist CMF's Kenya team and the national Christian church in Kenya
(Community Christian Church) in administration and logistics
management. Our vision is a Christ-centered,
self-sustaining, missional church led by spiritually mature and
relevantly
educated leaders.
The
Browns want to be the hands and feet of the Body of Christ as they
serve others. It is with confidence in God's leading that
Jeff
and Tammi are continuing to seek partners to support this ministry
through financial support, steadfast prayer, and personal encouragement. |
Our Role
Living
and working in Kenya requires a great deal of legal paperwork and the
process to obtain documents needed for our team to do the work we do is
quite time-consuming. The field business administrator (FBA)
in
the capital city enables the missionaries to remain on location longer
to accomplish ministry goals by handling all of the legal, government,
and financial needs of the team. The FBA position is not a
typical or traditional role in the mission field, but it meets a great
need among those missionaries who are serving in typical and
traditional
roles. Our job is more of a 9-5 job that operates during normal
business hours- however, we are also on call evenings and weekends.
In addition to our primary workload, we are always seeking
opportunities to spread the Gospel message.
